Concrete Materials & Volume Calculator

Estimate total concrete volume (CFT / Cu.m), 50kg cement bags, sand, gravel/aggregate, and material costs with standard mix ratios.

Required Concrete & Materials

M20 (1:1.5:3)
Total Concrete Volume 125.00 CFT 3.54 Cubic Meters
Cement Bags (50 kg) Dry Volume Factor: 1.54
29.0 Bags
Sand (Fine Aggregate): 54.6 CFT (2.5 Tons)
Gravel (Coarse Aggregate): 109.1 CFT (5.0 Tons)

How to Calculate Concrete Volume & Raw Material Ratios

In civil construction, concrete is a composite material formed by mixing Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) or Pozzolana Portland Cement (PPC), sand (fine aggregate), stone gravel (coarse aggregate), and water.

When dry concrete materials are mixed with water, the voids between aggregate particles shrink by roughly 54%. Therefore, civil engineers use a Dry Volume Coefficient of 1.54 (i.e. Dry Volume = Wet Volume × 1.54) to calculate exact bags of cement and trucks of sand needed.

Standard Indian Concrete Mix Grades (IS 456:2000)

Grade Ratio (Cement : Sand : Aggregate) Compressive Strength (28 Days) Recommended Application
M10 1 : 3 : 6 10 N/mm² PCC leveling course, foundation bedding, non-structural pathways.
M15 1 : 2 : 4 15 N/mm² Boundary walls, residential floors, simple mass concrete.
M20 (Standard) 1 : 1.5 : 3 20 N/mm² Reinforced Cement Concrete (RCC) slabs, roof beams, staircases.
M25 1 : 1 : 2 25 N/mm² Heavy load-bearing columns, water tanks, foundation footings.
